Welcome to Dublin, California.
Located in fast growing Alameda County, Dublin is a family oriented community of some 32,000 residents located approximately 35 miles east of San Francisco. Its central location near the Alameda/Contra Costa county line and excellent quality of life have led to strong growth in the city. Dublin has long been known as the "crossroads" of the Bay Area. Dublin now sits at the crossroads of two major highways: Interstate 580 and Interstate-680. However, the significance of the "crossroads" dates back over two hundred years when Dublin served as the crossroads of two important stage routes - one from the Bay Area to Stockton and the other from Martinez to San Jose. The Alamilla Spring, located in the Dublin area, provided a place for travelers to change horses and freshen up before continuing their journey. Dublin is home to the headquarters of Sybase, Inc. Dublin Boulevard, a generally east/west road running just north of Interstate 580, was a part of the Lincoln Highway.
During the past twenty years, the rapidly expanding Tri-Valley area has become renowned as a place of prosperity, a center for internationally acclaimed business parks and home to some of the world's largest corporations. The City of Dublin, located at the crossroads of the Tri-Valley, has contributed to the planned growth and forward thinking of the area.
Several historical sites are preserved and located where Dublin Boulevard is crossed by Donlan Way: The Murray Schoolhouse (established in 1856 with 50 pupils). Green's Store (opened in 1860). The old cemetery (formally established in 1859, although people had been buried in the churchyard for years, where members of the Donner Party Expedition are buried). Saint Raymond's Church (established in 1860).
A new Town Center is being created in Dublin, California which mixes retail and residential and complements existing communities in east Dublin. The development features a traditional neighborhood market, drugstore, upscale retail shop, a "main street" featuring cafes and restaurants, and three stories of residential over retail sites. The main square will feature a fountain court to accommodate special events and an outdoor marketplace.
